In the beginning God created everything. He made man in His image and said it was good (Gen 1:27). But man sinned and rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden by eating fruit from the tree which they were commanded not to eat of (Gen 3). God cast them out of the garden, but not before providing clothes for them from an innocent animal which serves as a foreshadow of innocent Jesus being punished for our sins (Gen 3:21). Years later God gave His people the Law that they were suppose to obey in order for God to be with them. We see how serious God takes sin when He commands that sacrifices must be made to him to atone for their sins (Lev 1-7). Year after year Gods people broke the law and realized that they could never keep all of the rules perfectly enough to please God.

“BUT GOD, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace” (Ephesians 2:4-5)! God sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, to come down and live among us. He followed the law perfectly and was the only person to ever do so. Jesus did many signs and wonders while He was on earth including healing the blind, feeding over 5,000 people with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread, and raising the dead (John 9:6, John 6:11, John 11:44). But even with all these miracles that Jesus did, many of the people still didn’t believe He was God’s Son (John 12:37-43). Jesus eventually got crucified on a cross for our sins. Why did Jesus have to die? He took our sins and nailed them to the cross. He gave those who believe in Him His righteousness, while taking on all of our sins.

“For while we were still helpless, at the appointed moment, Christ died for the ungodly. For rarely will someone die for a just person-though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:6-8)! No longer do we have to try to follow the rules to please God because if you believe in Jesus, you already please God. A man once described the Gospel like this “I am more sinful than I could possibly imagine, but more loved than I could dare hope.”

But the Bible warns us that in the future, Jesus will return to Earth and destroy satan (Rev 20:10). After there will be a great judgement of everybody who has ever lived.  “And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:15). God gave us the Scriptures to point us to Jesus and to warn us of the coming judgment. God commands everyone to repent and believe in Jesus Christ and be saved (Acts 16:32).

Our vision for Immigrant Hope SB is to show people that Jesus loves them and died to save them through grace. We know that nothing in this world can satisfy us the way Jesus can. Author C.S. lewis once stated ” If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”

“You reveal the path of life to me;
in Your presence is abundant joy;
in Your right hand are eternal pleasures. (Psalm 16:11).
